Login Required
Microsoft Account
(DTS Faculty, Students, Staff, Grads)
If you have a Microsoft account, then click the "Microsoft" button to access the online resource you have requested. All DTS faculty, students, and grads have a Microsoft account. This means of authentication will work for WorldCat and whatever library databases you are authorized to access.
WC Account
(Community Users)
If you have a native WorldCat account, then click the "WC Account" button to access WorldCat, the library catalog. All registered library users have a WorldCat account. Registered Community Users including TexShare users can use this login to renew books, place holds, view due dates, view fines, etc. As explained below, Community Users can use many databases beyond WorldCat when they are on the DTS campus, but Community Users may not use them from remote (off-campus) locations.
If needed, consult How to Set a WorldCat Password for help. You must have a working email address in your WorldCat record in order to set a password.
Why is Login Required?
There are both legal and financial reasons for requiring authentication/login. Display additional details.
The vendors from whom we license these resources typically allow us to offer remote (off campus) access to current faculty, students, and staff, but specifically prohibit us from offering remote access to others. We are legally obligated to restrict remote access. However, we are usually permitted to let almost any library user use some of these resources when they are on campus. Some vendors do give us the option of providing others with remote access to selected resources if the library pays an additional fee. This is how we offer DTS grads access to ATLAS, for example.
What Am I Authorized to Use?
What you can use depends on who you are (faculty, student, grad, guest) and where you are (on or off campus). Display additional details.
- Current DTS faculty, students and staff in good standing may use all digital resources when they are on campus, and most of these same resources when they are off-campus. If you are unable to login, or if the system fails to recognize you as a current FSS, then contact library staff to have your record corrected.
- DTS grads may use most (not all) databases when they are on campus. For remote (off-campus) access, see the grad resources page. You MUST link to resources from the grad resource page in order to use them. Access will fail if you attempt to access from a student page. If you are a grad and also a Community User, then you have two WorldCat accounts. Read about them here.
- Community Users (e.g., TexShare) may use some (not all) databases on campus. The library does not provide Community Users with access to any of these resources from remote (off-campus) locations.
